Jonathan the Jester
I have to earn my title every year by serving both The Mayor and the wider community.
I am probably quite well known for my appearences at The Christmas Light Switch On event, or St Georges Day. But these
aren't actually my official duties. I perform lots of duties as the official jester but here are some of the more fun things I do.
One of the most important jobs I do is at Naomi House. At least once a month I visit the house
and provide entertainment for the very important children that are staying there at the time. This is a lot of fun and I truly enjoy the experience.
Naomi House is a great a fun place to be, staffed by very dedicated professional people
and I feel proud to be working alongside them. The challenges involved in maintaining such high standards
are immense.
Exeter House is another very important place to be. Every year I give them a full show just before Christmas.
I am always made most welcome and the competition to take part as a volunteer is intense. My show is loud and visual
and the staff enjoy it as much as the kids.
Rethink promoted themselves with a quiz on World Mental Health Day.
The Hogshead on Fisherton Street hosted and sponsored the event providing some wonderful prizes
and I got to wear my spangly quiz show

The Trussell Trust were the Mayor of Salisburys
appeal last year and I enjoyed the work
I did with them very much. They have a smashing new headquarters at Bemerton and their
Army of volunteers are achieving things with a big smile. Feeding the hungry both at home
in rural and inner city areas, they are very effective abroad and their foodbank programme
is working extremely well. But the work must go on and we must never be complacent in the battle
against hunger - even in these times of plenty.
Salisbury Hospice Care Trust were the deserving charity for Spire FM
and I took part in an auction to help raise money for them. I like to help the hospice as often as
I can and on this occassion I was auctioned for £160 to provide Circus Workshops for Winterslow School and
Britfor Primary School. Both Schools got a real bargain and the Hospice got the cash.
