Jonathan the Jester
Congratulations! This is secret page 2.
St Georges Day
|
Jonathan the Jester has performed at every St Georges Day event for the last 10 years.
This photo made the front page of The Salisbury Journal in 1999. Next to me is a very important person, St Christopher
the Giant.
Christopher always used to appear and parade through the streets on St Georges Sunday.
However, in 2005 years the suits who control the festival chose to hold the festival on a day in which
Christopher could not come.
The Salisbury Giant (this is a replica) has a long and distinguished history. The original is far too
fragile to move now but can be seen in the Salisbury Museum.
It is a very important event in Salisbury although the festival itself has been endangered in recent
years.
The main funding comes from the SDC Marketing Dept who have in recent years kept the festival alive
and they should be praised for that. However, newer blood in the department see it as a glorified publicity stunt.
The suits who work in that dept have recently ignored calls by local artists to put it back into the community.
Politics! Politics!

The Face that Launched a Bus
|
|
The great thing about being the Mayors Jester is you get to do some fun
things. In 1998 I launched a fleet of new environmentally freindly buses in Salisbury. (The Mayor
Couldn't reach the ribbon on top of the Double Deckers.)
This is me high on my stilts, about to get run over because this baby is too tall to drive through my legs.
